Welcome to our FAQ page!
Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions about Autograph Talent (formerly MAM) and how a talent agency operates. Autograph Talent is not a talent scout—we don’t sell classes, headshot packages, or promote modeling/acting conventions. Our business thrives on commission earned from the projects we book for our talent.
We represent experienced actors, lifestyle models, and voice-over artists who align with our clients’ marketing needs. If you don’t see your question answered here, feel free to reach out!
What is a Talent Agency?
Talent agencies connect actors, models, and voice-over artists with opportunities in film, television, commercials, and more. Through industry relationships, agencies receive casting breakdowns and submit talent for consideration. We also negotiate contracts to secure the best possible rates and usage terms for our talent.
How much does it cost to join?
Joining Autograph Talent is completely free—we don’t charge representation fees or sell services. Our earnings come from commissions on your booked work.
However, as a professional talent, you may have expenses such as:
- Headshots: Professional photos from a photographer of your choosing
- Database fees: Keeping your online profiles updated
- Training & Workshops: Continued education and practice in your craft
- Travel Costs: Transportation to auditions or bookings may be required
What is Autograph looking for in talent?
We welcome talent of all ages, shapes, sizes, and backgrounds to meet our clients’ diverse needs! The majority of our bookings are for adults aged 20-60+, though opportunities vary greatly.
General Requirements:
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to respond to casting notices quickly
- Basic computer skills
- Availability for auditions and shoots during traditional work hours (M-F, 8 AM-6 PM)
I don’t have experience. How do I get started?
If you’re new to the industry, we recommend starting with our partner agency, Flannel Background. No experience is required, and it’s a great way to gain on-set experience before applying to Autograph Talent.
We also accept lifestyle models and select talent who meet our clients’ marketing needs, even with little to no experience.
We also suggest starting with local community theater and student films. They are excellent ways to build your resume, gain training, and develop experience. If you’ve already taken these steps, we encourage you to apply. Our market is unique, and we’re excited to hear about your background!
